| TROUBLESHOOTING INSTALLATION Currently there are two types on installation programs in use for Pocket PC/HPC programs. In one you download the file, click on it and away you go. The other requires you to download the file, unzip the contents and then click on setup.exe to install. If you are having any problems installing the software here are some tips. 1] Make sure you have the correct version of the software for your type of device. For instance, software for Pocket PCs will not run on HPC 2000 units. 2] Have your device connected to your desktop. 3] Remove any previous version of the software by using the settings/system/remove applets program on your device. 4] If asked to replace files, you must tap on 'Yes to All'. 5] If you have an older model Pocket PC, you will need the .NET Compact Framework from Microsoft to run programs developed for the Pocket PC 2003 and 2005 models. 6] If you have a Pocket PC 2003 or 2005 model, you may need the Microsoft eVB Runtime files to run the older programs listed under Pocket PC/2002. 7] For Pocket PC 2005 owners: If you see the message about the program being from an unknown publisher, tap on YES. 8] Contact me for help. Another option is to bypass the setup and use the CAB file. Here are the instructions for this. 1] Locate the CAB file for your particular chip on your hard drive. These can usually be found in the ProgramFiles\MicrosoftActiveSync\<program_name> directory. For all Pocket PC 2002s you will need the StrongArm cab file or Arm1100 file. 2] Connect your device to your desktop. 3] Using Explorer on ActiveSync, copy the cab file to the windows/appmgr/install directory. 4] Using File Explorer on your device, navigate to this same directory and tap on the cab file to install. If the install is successful, the cab file will automatically be removed. For more information, please read the Compatibility FAQ and Device FAQ for Pocket PC devices.
